Linewise

Privacy Policy

Version 2026-10-01 · Privacy Policy · Terms of Service

Linewise runs waitlists for restaurants. When you scan a restaurant's QR code, we hold your place in its queue and tell you when a table is ready. When you run a restaurant on Linewise, we keep your queue, floor and billing running. Linewise also runs token queues for clinics — see section 11 for what that means for patients. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it and how to reach us. It applies to app.linewise.tech, the Linewise WhatsApp number and every page linked from a Linewise QR code.

1. Who we are

Linewise, [registered address] (“Linewise”, “we”). Contact: privacy@linewise.tech. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), the restaurant you queue at decides why your details are collected and is the data fiduciary for its guests; Linewise processes that data on the restaurant's behalf. For restaurant owners and staff who hold a Linewise account, Linewise is the data fiduciary.

2. What we collect

If you are a guest joining a queue

  • Your name and mobile number — typed into the join page, or taken from the WhatsApp message you send us.
  • Your party size, any seating request you type, and the times you joined, were invited, were seated, and left. The restaurant marks the last two.
  • Messages exchanged with the Linewise WhatsApp number — what you send and what we send, including delivery receipts from WhatsApp.
  • Feedback — the rating you tap after your visit and anything you write, and whether you opened the Google review link.
  • Technical data — your device's IP address and browser type in our server logs, and the queue page's settings in your browser's storage.

If you run a restaurant on Linewise

  • Your email address, your outlet's name, address details you enter, your team's email addresses, table layout and settings.
  • Billing details: your subscription status and Razorpay identifiers. Card, UPI and bank details go to Razorpay directly and never reach Linewise.
  • Everything your outlet's guests generate (above), which you can see and export from your dashboard.

3. Why we use it

  • To hold your place in the queue, estimate your wait, and tell you when your table is ready — on WhatsApp or on the queue page.
  • To learn how long tables turn and how fast a queue moves, so wait times get more accurate. These are statistics about tables, not profiles of guests.
  • To ask for your feedback after a visit and, if you liked it, to offer the restaurant's Google review link.
  • To stop the same number from taking two places at once, and to let a guest who was seated rejoin only after a cooling-off period.
  • To run the restaurant's dashboard, analytics and daily QR codes, and to bill the restaurant.
  • To keep the service secure, investigate abuse, and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data, show advertising, or build marketing profiles of guests. We do not use guest data to message you about anything other than the visit you joined a queue for.

4. Consent

Guests consent when they join a queue — by sending the join message on WhatsApp or by submitting the join page, both of which display a notice linking to this policy. Restaurant owners consent when they create an account, by ticking the box on the sign-in screen. You can withdraw consent at any time (section 8); the restaurant may then be unable to hold your place.

5. Who sees it

  • The restaurant you queued at. Its staff see your name, number, party size, request and timings on their queue board, and can export their outlet's history.
  • Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform) carries every WhatsApp message between you and the Linewise number, under WhatsApp's own terms.
  • Supabase (database and authentication) and Vercel (hosting) store and serve the data on our behalf.
  • Razorpay processes restaurant subscription payments.
  • Google — if a restaurant connects its Google listing, we read the public review count from Google's Places API. Nothing about you is sent to Google; the review link you may tap opens Google's own page.
  • Authorities, if the law requires it, and successors if Linewise is acquired, under the same commitments.

6. How long we keep it

  • Queue entries, message logs and feedback are kept while the restaurant remains a Linewise customer, so the restaurant's history and wait-time learning stay intact.
  • When a restaurant removes an outlet or leaves Linewise, its guest data is deleted within 90 days of the request.
  • A guest can ask for their own data to be erased at any time (section 8); we act within 30 days.
  • Consent and billing records are kept as long as the law requires.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our hosting providers. Restaurant staff sign in with one-time email codes; each restaurant sees only its own outlets; payment webhooks are signature-verified; and changes made by the Linewise team inside a restaurant's account are logged. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected restaurants and, where required, the Data Protection Board and affected guests if a breach occurs.

8. Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, have it erased, or withdraw your consent. Guests can write to privacy@linewise.tech from the number or email in question, or ask the restaurant, which can act on your behalf. Restaurant owners can export their outlet's data from the dashboard, remove an outlet under Settings, and ask us to delete the outlet's data. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India. Our Grievance Officer: [name], Grievance Officer, privacy@linewise.tech.

9. Children

Linewise is for adults. A queue entry is always in the name of the adult who joined; we do not knowingly collect a child's data.

11. Clinics and patients

When a clinic uses Linewise, everything above applies with “clinic” for restaurant and “patient” for guest. The clinic is the data fiduciary for its patients; Linewise processes their data on the clinic's behalf.

What we collect about patients

  • Your name and mobile number — taken from the WhatsApp message you send when you scan the clinic's QR code, or typed in by the clinic's reception.
  • Your token number and the times you checked in, were called, went in to the doctor and finished, plus whether you left the queue or missed your turn.
  • Messages exchanged with the Linewise WhatsApp number about that visit.
  • Feedback — only if the clinic has switched rating requests on: the rating you tap and anything you write.

What we do not collect

Linewise is a queue, not a medical record. We do not ask for, and clinics must not enter, symptoms, diagnoses, prescriptions, test results or any other health information. We know only that you queued at a clinic on a given day — and because even that can be sensitive, we treat it as confidential: it is visible only to that clinic and to Linewise staff who need it to run or support the service.

How it is used and shown

  • To give you a token, estimate your wait and send you at most these WhatsApp messages about that visit: your token, a “you're next” notice, a notice if the doctor is running late, and — only if the clinic switched it on — one rating request afterwards.
  • To learn the doctor's typical consultation time so waits are more accurate. This is a statistic about the clinic's queue, not about you.
  • A clinic's waiting-room screen shows token numbers only — never names or phone numbers.
  • The clinic's owner and reception see your name, number, token and timings on their queue screen and can export the clinic's visit history.

Reply STOP on WhatsApp to stop all messages from that clinic. Your rights in section 8 apply in full; you can also ask the clinic's reception.

12. Changes

When this policy changes materially, we update the version at the top and ask restaurant owners to agree again at their next sign-in. Guest-facing notices always link to the current version.
